Since 2019, AZ4CC has been advising and educating Arizona Corporation Commissioners and staff, as well as energy industry stakeholders, climate action and environmental advocates, municipalities and counties in Arizona about the benefits of CCA as a pathway to increasing renewable and clean energy in our State. What follows is our progress so far:
- Met with Commissioners and their policy advisors to introduce the CCA concept
- Arranged for 2 CCA experts to present at 2 retail competition workshops held by the Corporation Commission. This resulted in CCA being incorporated into the 2 retail competition rules
- Submitted letter to Commissioners advocating for a CCA rule, signed by approximately 30 webinar attendees
- Enrolled Commissioner Kennedy as a CCA advocate. She has requested a separate workshop devoted to studying CCA
- Held 2 CCA webinars presented by Shawn Marshall, formerly executive director of LEAN Energy US (now Director of CCA Market Development & External Affairs at Calpine) with approximately 50 attendees, including Corporation Commission policy advisors, city employees and government officials, ARSEIA board members, other industry leaders and renewable energy advocates
- Worked with the AZ state chapter of the Sierra Club to pass a CCA Resolution
- Briefed candidates running for the Corporation Commission in November 2022
